..attract, promote, and foster vocal development using the latest vocal pedagogy to create sustainable and repeatable results based on vocal truths in acoustics, physiology, and aesthetics that are undeniably valid.
A recent father, singer, songwriter, software developer, and serial entrepreneur, Mike Elson is now more passionate than ever about training voices, vocal pedagogy, and his love for all types of singing. Inspired by a dream to make quality voice training available for anyone anywhere, Mike combines his multi-discipline studies in computers and singing backed by dual degrees in Vocal Performance (BM) and Computer Science (BS) from the University of Southern California. The idea for Vocaloop™ just arrived one day with real potential and a mission to make online lessons as close to the in-person lessons as possible.
Mike is a Tenor who damaged his voice and rebuilt his technique from square one with Joel Ewing, providing him plenty of humility and loads of first-hand empirical knowledge about the inner workings of the voice. Mike strongly believes that "everyone should be trained as a tenor," because of the additional skills required in balancing registration for this specific voice type. He has enjoyed singing in Mrs. Kim Barclay Ritzer's award-winning GVHS choir in Las Vegas, Nevada and with Dr. Dhening's internationally acclaimed USC Chamber Choir in Los Angeles, CA. Mike credits Joel with not only bringing his voice back to life but also with imparting to him a deep wealth of vocal pedagogy knowledge. Mike enjoys studying, reading, and discussing Vocal Pedagogy including some of the 20th century's best vocal pedagogues: E. Herbert-Caesari, Cornelius Reid, and William Vennard. Mike brings his passion for singing along with his pedigree to bring the voice training industry a new platform to make online voice lessons more successful, help choirs raise funds, and grow better singers.
